Owner Update: Cancer, A stolen car, A Camper Van & Joy!

Hey folks, I’m writing to you from a campsite in Manzanita where I’m getting ready to go home after five days camping in my new van! Some of you know what I have been up to this year and some of you don’t so I just wanted to give you an update.

My Year so far could be summarized by “Cancer, A stolen Car, a Camper Van and Joy!” At the beginning of this year, I had some scans to look at my spine, when some unexpected images arose on the MRI. Essentially I was told I might have a really scary form of spinal cancer in my low back. In the end it turned out that everything in my back seems to be OK, but there was a spot in my upper spine near my thyroid.

A Biopsy confirmed that it was papillary thyroid cancer after nearly 4 months of unanswered questions. During this time I had bought a new car and it was stolen from my driveway. A few days later, I got it back, not in great condition. The insurance company wanted to total it, but I decided to keep it anyways…

During this time I made the decision to go ahead with a Mexico vacation I had scheduled for the beginning of May with some friends and deal with the cancer  after I got back. Mexico was completely amazing!! While in Mexico, I gave my son permission to drive my car and he was involved in a three car accident (which was not his fault) that completely totaled my car.  Obviously this car was NOT for me and I began to look for a new vehicle.

In the middle of all of this, was was my thyroid removal surgery. As I was healing I realized that life is to too short not to live our dreams and live each day fully. I decided I didn’t need a daily driver, but my dream camper van! That’s when I stumbled upon “Fernie the Ford Transit Camper van”! She was already a camper van and ready to help me live my post cancer life to the fullest! I have already been on some amazing adventures with her and am planning more! These adventures have made me think even more about what i want to do with my life.

Do I want to keep working my butt off every day only to play on the weekends? Or can I figure out some way to invest fully in my health and my joy? The answer is Health and Joy and Love!

I have decided to start a second business just for me, Shaunna Sutcliffe, helping others focus on this same idea. Balancing our health, joy, and creating a life full of the things we LOVE!!

Soon you will hear more about these offerings as they are created in my heart and meditations from Fernie. Thank you for being here!! I look forward to seeing you soon at the park, a retreat or a class!
